Imagine. You need to find the file with that unmerged effects among the heap of 2 mb files which were called hastily ‘Untitled1.psd, ‘Untitled2.psd’, ‘Untitled2_a.psd’. And now you have to open every single file, wait for it to load, scroll through it, and then find the effects you was looking for. Sounds familiar?

ComparePSD compares two Adobe Photoshop PSD files for you and highlights the differences. Layer by layer. Effect by effect. Simple. And did we mention that ComparePSD is absolutely free?

Key features:

  • ComparePSD compares PSD files layer-by-layer
  • ComparePSD handles layers styles (effects), styles attributes and layers visibility flags
  • ComparePSD provides a scaled view of the files that helps you to find differences easier
  • ComparePSD allows you to select the files in Windows Explorer by right-clicking on them

ComparePSD is a free download, Windows only (although they are working on a Mac version as well). ComparePSD

This was one of digitalnuts challenges last week. I thought it would try my new CS4 out.

Smudging is when you take the smudge tool in Photoshop and brush the image creating a brushstroke effect. In Photoshop CS4 you can now rotate the canvas. This ability to rotate the canvas lets you stroke the image from any angle. If you liked the sketch this is a great feature. If you smudge our draw, CS4 for you.
