Siamese cats are the most fascinating creatures. I had always wanted one. Finally, after many years, I was able to get one. Qing came into our lives as a kitten and quickly took over.He was originally purchased for my husband but my daughter became his best friend and, therefore, he was hers. However, after a new kitten came into our lives, Qing was quite distressed. He refused to eat and almost died. That’s where I came into the picture. After frantically trying to entice him to eat (actually cooking food strictly for him), without success, a trip to the vet resulted in obtaining appetite stimulants for him. He slept in my bed, on his back, with his feet straight up in the air for two weeks. When I was unable to get his medication down him, I decided he would live. After that, Qing was mine. He’ll sit in my lap, look over at my daughter, sniff and turn his head away.
He really is the most intelligent creature. We had to change all the door knobs because Qing cannot stand for any door to be closed to him. He would open them, walk around and then go to the next. If he cannot get into a room, he’ll stand at the door and bellow (that’s the only way to describe the bloodcurdling cry he makes). It is most alarming. He loves to lay in my lap while I watch television, knit or whatever. As long as he is with me, he’s happy. He is the most endearing of pets. The photograph is courtesy of Cat Fanciers.
