The nogg

The nogg is a modern chicken coop that has been designed in the shape of an egg. It has been designed to house 2-4 chickens, and it tries to promote domestic farming while adding a touch of playful elegance to sit beautifully in any garden, urban or rural environment. The nogg is designed to enhance and compliment its surroundings and fit sculpturally with this aesthetic assumption. More

buibahouseBats have been maligned for centuries, miscast as the familiars of witches, associated with Hallowe’en, and feared for the false belief that they will get caught in hair. Bats have been unfairly burdened with these myths, often reviled and victimized because of it. In reality, bats are incredibly important to the health of the environment and our gardens.

Bats are the primary predator of night-flying insects such as moths, beetles, and mosquitoes. A healthy colony of bats can protect gardens and crops from major damage by pest species such as cucumber beetles, moths, cutworm, corn earworm, leafhoppers, and June beetles. Putting up bat houses is a great way to help bat populations.

article-1188910-051aa561000005dc-256_634x475Tonka the tortoise was found in San Mateo County in California after it had been attacked by a dog that had bitten off one of her legs.  Rescuers were afraid she would never be able to move normally until one of them had the idea to attach wheels from a Tonka truck to her. Now she really gets around!

Local resident John O’Dea, 35, has now adopted Tonka and said she loved nothing better than roaming in the vegetable patch and going for ‘walks’.

Surfer John said: ‘She is doing really well and loves roaming around the vegetable garden on her shiny new wheels.

‘She has a particular fondness for tomatoes.

‘I take her for ‘walks’ regularly around my neighbourhood, I think she likes the speed but I do get a few funny looks.

Here’s a couple of alligator I shot on Tuesday. Both were photographed in the Swanee River wildlife management area. usually when the gators sees you it goes underwater. This one got up walked over and slid into the water and swam over to me. And then he climbed out of the water on my side of the pond and walked towards me. It reminded me of a puppy that was happy to see its master. Somebody had been feeding this guy. Which by the way is a legal. It’s not only dangerous for humans but it’s dangerous for the gators as well. They associate humans with food and if they become a nuisance are a danger there destroyed. There’s also a hefty fine if caught feeding alligators.

Yorkshire TerrierThe Yorkshire Terrier (or “Yorkie”) originated Yorkshire, England in the 1800′s. It stands about 9 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs from 4 to 7 pounds. Its long, straight, glossy coat is finely textured and dark steel blue and tan in color. Although the Yorkshire is a “human-made” breed, exactly what dogs were used in its creation remains largely a matter of speculation since no breeding records were kept and the Yorkshire area contained many popular toy and terrier types that could have been used for crossbreeding. The general consensus is that the Yorkshire represents the result of crosses between the Skye and Manchester Terriers. Today, as in the past, the Yorkshire is a very popular companion and house pet. Despite its small size, the Yorkie is a big dog in a little dog body. It will take on a Rottweiler with no thought of the consequences. In spite of this, the Yorkie has a sweet and gentle disposition and makes a perfect pet for an apartment dweller.
