MAD caricaturist Tom Richmond has posted the first part of a series of “How to Draw Caricatures” tutorials on his blog. First up are the basics, a method of defining the unique geometry of one’s subjects using what Tom calls The Five Shapes. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series. Tom’s blog is an invaluable resource of tips, tutorials, and insights. Drawn!

aircar.jpg

Imagine a vehicle that runs on air, achieves over 100 gas-equivalent mpg and over 90 mph, has zero to low C02 emissions, seats six, has plenty of space for luggage, cuts no safety corners, and costs no more than an average economy to mid-size vehicle.

This is the expected performance of the revolutionary ‘Air Car’ that Zero Pollution Motors is introducing to North America.
The ‘Air Car‘ project is headed by French inventor and Formula One race car engineer, Guy Negre.

Quote from Photoshop help

“Tool presets let you save and reuse tool settings. You can load, edit, and create libraries of tool presets using the Tool Preset picker in the options bar, the Tool Presets palette, and the Preset Manager.“

HOW TO LOAD BRUSH PRESETS

First, we need to determine what constitutes a brush file and what constitutes a preset file.  A preset file has an extension of .tpl.  You can have any name you want but the extension is .tpl.  A brush file has an extension of .abr.  These files are loaded differently.

A tool preset contains settings that define the characteristics of that tool, such as size, shape and hardness of the brush.  It does not have to be a brush tool; it can be any tool, for example, smudge tool or art history brush.  They all have the ability to save their settings.

Yorkshire TerrierThe Yorkshire Terrier (or “Yorkie”) originated Yorkshire, England in the 1800′s. It stands about 9 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs from 4 to 7 pounds. Its long, straight, glossy coat is finely textured and dark steel blue and tan in color. Although the Yorkshire is a “human-made” breed, exactly what dogs were used in its creation remains largely a matter of speculation since no breeding records were kept and the Yorkshire area contained many popular toy and terrier types that could have been used for crossbreeding. The general consensus is that the Yorkshire represents the result of crosses between the Skye and Manchester Terriers. Today, as in the past, the Yorkshire is a very popular companion and house pet. Despite its small size, the Yorkie is a big dog in a little dog body. It will take on a Rottweiler with no thought of the consequences. In spite of this, the Yorkie has a sweet and gentle disposition and makes a perfect pet for an apartment dweller.

Dave Steward of Fort Madison, Iowa was fired from his job after seven years because he posted a Dilbert comic strip on an office bulletin board. In the offending strip, Dilbert compared company decision-makers to “drunken lemurs”. Management checked surveillance tapes to find out which employee was responsible. The story became national news after the company fought Steward’s claim for unemployment benefits. Now Dilbert creator Scott Adams is incorporating Steward’s story in his comic strip. A series of strips on the case begin yesterday.

In one of the strips, Adams gives his take on Steward’s dismissal.

Catbert: “Wally, I have to fire you for posting a comic comparing managers to drunken lemurs. You won’t be eligible for unemployment benefits unless you can prove you were stupid as opposed to malicious. Can you prove you’re stupid?”

Wally: “Is there another explanation for working here?”

Steward, who is still unemployed, says he will keep the strips in a scrapbook. Link to story. Link to daily Dilbert strip.

 Piky

Piky is a Windows-only application that acts as a ‘basket’ that you can drop files in that you want to move.

It runs as an Explorer extension and you simply add files and folders to you basket by right-clicking on them. Then you simply navigate to your destination and empty your basket. How handy is that?
